About

This editorial design I created with a fellow student won a competition brief and was published in early April 2026. The articles were created in collaboration with a cultural journalism master's course in Munich. Inspired by the 1960s film noir 'Alphaville‘, it explores contemporary issues through a retrofuturistic lens, questioning whether we already live in a technofeudalistic dystopia, or if there's still room for a more hopeful outlook on the future.

Our main challenge was creating a cohesive visual concept across 150 pages that would tie the diverse articles together. We combined contemporary elements with a bold color palette and edgy typography while still maintaining visual breathing room. I created illustrative elements that enhance the content without overwhelming it, allowing the articles to speak for themselves while adding another layer of meaning.

The result is a balanced publication creating a unified reading experience that supports the editorial content while still establishing its own visual language.
